(2) Pencil, no pens, I REPEAT... NO PENS!!!

Late Work Policy:
LATE WORK WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT 20% PENALTY AND WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AFTER 3 WEEKS FROM THE DUE DATE OR AFTER THE UNIT TEST (WHICHEVER COMES FIRST). You must turn in homework to the appropriate bin at the beginning of class. This does not refer to make-up work due to an excused absence. MAKE-UP WORK IS THE STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITY and will be due within the number of days, equivalent to days missed, of returning to school or it is considered late. Student will need to check the assignment page for the missing work and then get the required assignments.
Behavior Expectations
Class Rules
(1) Allow me to speak without interruption
(2) Be in your seat and ready by the bell.
(3) Follow all directions the first time.
(4) Respect all persons and all property at all times.
(5) Stay seated and on your current task unless you have prior permission
The regulations of North East ISD will be enforced in this classroom. These will include the policies on absences, tardies, hats, mp3 players, dress code, and food. Being in school is a privilege. Take advantage of your opportunity and don’t waste your time.
Lab: It is your responsibility to take care of lab equipment and lab area. You must follow all safety procedures and instructions or you will not be allowed to participate in the lab. If one member of the lab group takes the unfinished assignment home and is absent during the next lab day, the remaining lab partner(s) must start the lab over and will be expected to compete the assignment on time.
Homework: Any homework is due at the beginning of class. I cannot over emphasize the importance of putting effort into completing your homework. Physics involves many skills that must be practiced. Lack of effort on homework WILL have a negative effect on your grades in class!
Tutoring: I want each one of you to have a successful year! Toward that end, I am available for tutoring before school. If the tutoring times available will not work for you, we can make other arrangements. Please, do not hesitate to ask for assistance!
Consequences for Violations of Classroom Procedures: These consequences are set forth to ensure that the best learning environment is maintained. The following discipline management techniques may be used alone or in conjunction. These listed below are for less serious offenses:
1. Nature of offense is documented and signed by student.
2. Student-teacher conference.
3. Detention.
4. Call home to parents/parent conference.
5. Referral.
More serious infractions will be dealt with more severely according to Campus and District Policy.
Academic Integrity/Cheating/Plagiarism: You, at times, will be placed in groups for the purpose of cooperative learning. Your tests and written work, however, are expected to be completed on your own. Students cheating or unfairly assisting other students during a test will lose all credit on that test. Students may cooperate on lab write-ups, but they may not copy each other’s work. If caught copying another student’s work, both students will not receive credit for that assignment. Similarly, plagiarism will result in zero credit for an assignment and a referral. Keeping a phone or prohibited device on your person during an assessment constitutes cheating and will result in loss of credit for that assessment.
Final Advice: Physics is challenging, but you can succeed in this class if you follow these key steps:
Keep up with your assignments. Use the Web Site to catch up after an absence and avoid missing class whenever possible. Falling behind is the kiss of death!
Ask for help when you need it. Whether that means asking a question during class or coming in for tutoring, I am here to help you in any way I can!
Take advantage of opportunities to boost your grade – corrections, retests, and extra credit.
Work hard and use your brain! I work very hard for you, and I expect nothing less in return.
